With a population over 2 million strong in North America and increasing by over 20% from the 1990 to 2000 census, the Ukrainian Americans represent one of the oldest and influential US communities from the Newly Independent States. The recent onset of political and economic reform in Ukraine has finally created an attractive commerce environment for American Ukrainian business executives and individual investors to establish a strong presence at the early stage of this emerging market. Simultaneously, Ukrainian business leaders realize that the combination of an expansive American-Ukrainian community and US government support of their economy has made the US a prime target for diversifying holdings and establishing international operations. The American Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry exists as an impartial advocate of both initiatives and business communities in this critical effort.
